Welcome to our District 4-L2 Lions of California Web Site

Welcome to the Lions District 4L2 web site!

Lions Clubs in our area provide opportunities for people in all walks of life to give back to their community. District 4L2 supports Lions clubs in Southern California from Long Beach on the south to Pasadena on the North and from East Los Angeles to Covina/West Covina on the east. While Lions clubs are known for our focus on sight and hearing assistance, we also provide resources in other ways to improve our communities.

We are part of Lions International, the largest service club in the world with more than 46,000 clubs in 202 countries and nearly 1.4 million members.

I would like to extend a warm invitation to anyone who would like to learn more about Lionism and the good work that we do. Please click on my name above, and I will get back to you with more information.

Our mission in Lionism has never wavered: "We Serve."

“Empowered to Serve!” – our theme this year – highlights the focus of our District team. We are focused to serve our local clubs – providing guidance and support to help clubs leverage Lions Clubs International programs and resources.
Lions Clubs International resources, including:
1. Our Lions eyemobile for sight and hearing screenings - funded by our Sight and Hearing Foundation and LCIF.
2. Eye surgeries - funded by our Southern California Sight and Hearing Foundation.
3. Free Hearing Aids - funded by our Southern California Sight and Hearing Foundation.
4. Free Eye exams and glasses, provided by our Lions Low Vision (LOVE) program.
5. Student Speaker Contest Awards, funded by the MD4 Student Speaker Foundation
6. Peace Poster Contest, funded by LCI
7. Quest Program for at-risk children – funded by LCI

In addition, we have adopted a new district wide service project, “Hear us Roar." It is a much needed hearing awareness program that allows us to provide timely information to parents of infants who have been diagnosed with significant hearing loss. This exciting new program helps our clubs reach out into their community and deliver a very valuable service to their families.

These programs and resources help us differentiate ourselves from other community clubs and organizations. They allow us to make a difference in local people’s lives.

Again, thank you for visiting our web site. We hope you find the information helpful.

Sincerely,

Larry Dicus
District Governor 2009-2010
